SPLINTING

NES believes that splinting is easy but splinting well takes a life time to master. We also believe that clinical reasoning helps the process of matching the needs of the patient with the splint that you fabricate. Come on one of our splinting courses to have fun and challenge yourself to improve your practice. Attached is a programme of a course built for an OT team of four wishing to have a two day "Introduction to Static Splinting" course.  This is one of many options available to you.  We have taught splinting subjects including:

• Neoprene Splinting
• Introduction to Static Splinting - Course planned 12 June 2009, See below
• Dynamic Splinting
• Splinting the Wrist
• Splinting the PIPJ
• Splinting for the RA Hand

Both Promedics and Homecraft Rolyan (Patterson Medical) are very supportive of NES and may help us with providing materials for any course you would like us to run for you.

We have the equipment and can access the consumables... come on, why not plan for 2009 now?

Programme for Neoprene Splinting

Programme for Two day - Introduction to Static Splinting

One day "Introduction to Thermoplastic Splinting" course will be run at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital on 12th June 2009.  This is a course aimed at therapists new to splinting or wanting a refresher which is based on sound theory to enable therapists to learn the skills to create splints for themselves.  All participants will make four splints to take home with them.
